“The sensei’s are really nice.  I really like sparring because it’s competitive and I like the competitiveness. I like doing work on the bags. Breaking boards is really fun because they have a bunch of different techniques to use to break them. Karate has made me a little more alert with things in my life. It’s made me notice things more. I learned about GDK from one of my friends. He showed me some things he learned and it seemed pretty fun so I thought it was something I wanted to do. I like that it’s close to home and I like how the senseis are nice and all the things we do there. It’s overall just a lot of fun. I recommend GDK because you’ll learn a lot of different techniques there. You’ll learn how to defend yourself.”

I have attended other karate schools in the area and have observed some others as well. I have found that GDK offers the most training. We start with exercises and techniques then go into either self-defense or kata. It has been the only school I feel I had a good workout and continue improving on my martial art skills. Sensei Gary and Polly are very supportive if you choose to do tournaments, or whatever personal goals you have. I would highly recommend if you are interested in martial arts training to put GDK at the top of your list to visit and take a class.

Liliana has enjoys learning martial arts and spending times with the Senseis and other students.  She enjoys the one-on-one and group training.  She has opportunities to lead exercises, Kata and the start of class which has given her more confidence and strength of heart. Liliana enrolled because of the easy-going style of Senseis, Gary and Polly.  It’s affordable and there is no pressure on students or the parents. Game nights my favorite because you get to do some fun activities and you get to have fun and you get to play with other people like in dodge ball and the obstacle course and you get to work as a team.

After trying a free class at another karate place which was $60 per week and a year contract we looked for a more affordable option. Sensei Polly and Gary have a well-balanced approach to martial arts. They sincerely want to help people defend themselves and inspire kids to have positive attitudes. I have never seen any other martial arts instructors give so much of themselves and ask for so little. Every belt test is an individual endeavor.

My son was in second grade and having trouble fitting in with his classmates. He is not the usual athletic kid. I was looking for something to keep him active and build his self-esteem. We tried a free class at Golden Dragon Karate School and joined Calvin immediately. Calvin is currently a green belt and has been a student for almost 5 years. Sensei Polly started inviting me to join the teen and adult class. Calvin liked the idea and wanted me to join as well. Once Calvin was able to move into the teen and adult class, I joined as well. I was looking for something Calvin and I could do together. Sensei Polly and Sensei Gary teach karate skills and self-defense as well as respect and honor. Their dojo is a family and everyone is very welcoming and truly supportive of one another. I highly recommend Golden Dragon Karate School.
